EYESON HELPS MONTANA JEWELER MANAGE HIS STORE WHILE ON THE ROAD

The eyeson digital surveillance and management system gives Scott Wickam the ability to check in on
his store when he’s traveling and assist customers from a remote location. The system even helped him catch
an employee in the act of committing internal theft.
Mr. Wickam, the owner of Goldsmith Gallery Jewelers in Billings, MT, installed the 14-camera system last year.
"When a Rolex jeweler up the street got robbed, that’s when I finally decided to get a surveillance system,"
he recalls.
He also said system has paid for itself in terms of convenience and added security for his business. In addition,
Wickam found the system extremely easy to use and was pleased with the highly responsive service he has received.
Here are some of the many ways eyeson has helped Mr. Wickam manage his business:
- "One Saturday, I was home and decided to look in on everyone," he says. "I saw a customer come in and knew
exactly what he wanted: a $6,500 piece that was in the safe. But my staff didn’t know that, so I told them, and
they were able to complete the sale."
- Wickam was traveling when the staff notified him that someone suspicious-looking had entered the store. He
immediately accessed the system remotely, tracked the suspect with the PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) camera, and stored all
the information in the system should they need it as evidence. It turned out to be a false alarm, but the company
was prepared nonetheless.
- Wickam noticed that a $1,100 pair of sapphire earrings were missing following a Super Bowl sales event. When he
tried to track the missing merchandise through the inventory management software, he saw that it had been deleted.
Because the eyeson system created a visual record of the event, Wickam was able to look back through the
videos from various cameras and catch an employee red-handed taking the earrings. "When I confronted the person,
they wouldn’t come clean," he says. "But the system has given me enough evidence to identify and prosecute them."
