eyeson: A cooperative effort of two companies and two individuals.
In 2000, Roberto Doering established Aktuell, as a company that did primarily export and local
integration of security systems, including access controls and CCTV. He is an entrepreneur with
20 years of experience in the electronics field and a background in security and international
business. Being the South American Distributor for PCSC access control systems and having
successfully completed major installations with the Brazilian Air Force and election authorities,
Roberto looked to establish a presence in the United States.
Rosenthal Jewelers Supply was established in Cuba in the 1920s and later in South Florida in the
early 1960s. Raphael Adouth took the helm of the business in 1987, after the passing of his father,
guiding the company into the technological age.
Raphael met Roberto when Aktuell was demonstrating an innovative security product to Rosenthal
Jewelers Supply. Always searching for new and groundbreaking solutions, Raphael saw an opportunity.
With some substantive changes to Roberto’s software, they developed a system that not only offered
security but also provided data about the information one viewed—intelligent eyes, so to speak.
This new system easily integrates with a client’s existing computer systems and is extremely user
friendly and reliable. The system also provides the hardware to allow anyone to always have their
eyes on the business, from anywhere at anytime. Hence, the new company and product name, eyeson.
Using the Rosenthal Jewelry Supply client base, they tested their product. Jewelers were an ideal test
market, as they are very concerned about security and inventory as well as very easy to rob. They used
eyeson as a management tool to help reduce losses and enhance productivity.
Three years later in 2004, after successful testing and implementation of the product, eyeson digital
surveillance and management system was born.
As loss prevention has fundamental similarities that crossed industry lines, eyeson began pursuing and
acquiring clients from other sectors, including banking, real estate investment trusts (REITs), retail,
distribution and manufacturing.
